Springer Protocols is a database of life sciences protocols in a "recipe" format. These "recipes" allow scientists to recreate experiments in their own laboratory. Springer Protocols contains about 18,000 protocols, most of which are derived from the book series Methods in Molecular Biology. That book series, edited by John M. Walker since 1984, contains more than 400 volumes and has spawned several related book series. Springer Protocols replaced BioMed Protocols in January 2008.
Springer Protocols also has protocols from other series such as Methods in Molecular Medicine, Methods in Biotechnology, Methods in Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Neuromethods. Among the subjects covered are biochemistry, bioinformatics, biotechnology, cancer research, cell biology, genetics/genomics, imaging/radiology, immunology, infectious diseases, microbiology, molecular medicine, neuroscience, pharmacology/toxicology, plant science, and protein science.

While there is no native mobile version of this database, it will reformat for mobile devices via the normal access link. A more detailed look at this new resource will appear in the next newsletter.
