MD Consult, A Point-of-Care Clinical Tool, by David Brennan

MD Consult logoMD Consult is a point-of-care resource that has full-text articles from over 80 medical journals and Clinics,   50 medical textbooks across a wide range of specialties, clinically relevant drug information, and over 15,000 patient handouts. Clinicians like MD Consult because it gives them fingertip access to all these information sources using a single search on their workstation or mobile device. Features include:

  • Clinical Support Information
  • Practice Guidelines
    Updated regularly and arranged by topic, specialty, and authoring organization - 1,000 peer-reviewed practice guidelines
  • New Treatment Options
    Drug information database updated regularly (recent approvals, safety notices, and off-label usages). News section allows for customized RSS feeds for streaming medical news content or to sign up for weekly e-newsletters.
  • Patient Information
    15,000 different patient education handouts, available in English and Spanish.
  • CME
    Continuing Medical Education (CME) from two different providers: Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education and Cyberounds®.

MD Consult is also available from the Harrell Health Sciences Library website: http://med.psu.edu/library

MD Consult can be accessed off campus using your Penn State Access ID.

To use MD Consult on a mobile devicefirst visit the MD Consult site while on campus and create a free user account by clicking the "create account" link in the upper right of the MD Consult site.  Then you will be able to access MD Consult from on or off campus and it will optimize for your device after logging in.  MD Consult does not offer an app. Contact the library at 717-531-8634 or herref@hmc.psu.edu if you have any questions.
