Library Services for Penn State College of Medicine Adjunct Clinical Faculty

Adjunct Clinical Faculty provide educational and/or research services for the Penn State College of Medicine.  These individuals are not employed by the Pennsylvania State University or Penn State Health.  As a benefit, Adjunct Clinical Faculty members with a current appointment are provided access to Penn State University Libraries electronic resources, in cooperation with the Harrell Health Sciences Library.  Access to Library resources and services is dependent on the completion of the appointment process and the application of the corresponding Penn State Access ID account.

Volunteer faculty must:

1. Obtain an Adjunct Clinical Faculty appointment, as outlined on the College of Medicine’s Adjunct Faculty (Volunteer Faculty Members) webpage:

2. Your department must also apply for a Sponsored Account, on your behalf:

               https://security.psu.edu/services/penn-state-accts/sponsored/

• Please reach out to your department liaison to ensure that this step has been completed.
• There are no departmental charge-backs for library access.

Library Services included:

• Access to online University Libraries resources, as permitted by license.
• Training on the use of available library resources.
• Assistance with developing a literature search.
• Checking out circulating materials from any Penn State University Libraries location.  Being that official PSU ID cards are not issued to Clinical Adjunct Faculty, please inquire at any University Libraries Service Desk to register for a Penn State Library card as a Pennsylvania resident.

Library Services DO NOT include:

• Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery Services.
• Mediated literature searching by Library staff (i.e. performing a search for you).
  • Exceptions may be granted for searches directly related to your teaching responsibilities.
