The Harrell HSL and University Archives were essential to the success of the Penn State Hershey Medical Center historical documentary, Memories and Milestones, at the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards during the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) chapter ceremony held at the Lowe's Hotel in Philadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Memories and Milestones chronicles the Medical Center’s improbable origins and celebrates the vision of our founders, its impact on the Hershey Community and central Pennsylvania, as well as the Medical Center's key contributions to medicine and science. Working with faculty and staff of the Harrell HSL, FryFilms made extensive use of Harrell HSL and University Archives photographs, film clips, artifacts, and documents. Without access to these rich resources the film would not have had the impact primary source material provides.
FryFilms partner Todd Fry was awarded the Mid-Atlantic Emmy for directing the historical documentary. Memories and Milestones was also nominated for the documentary Emmy but fell short of the prize.
