How Do I Maintain My Bibliography?

Penn State Pure


Penn State Pure is Penn State's faculty research networking platform.  Pure is the name of an application by the company Elsevier that stores and allows retrieval of information on investigators, research units and research output (such as publications).  The Penn State Research Portal is Penn State University’s implementation of the Pure tool.

The application is funded and maintained by the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (Univ Park) and the College of Medicine.

  • Faculty research networking system maintained by the College of Medicine Pure Team and the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (University Park)
  • Autopopulates journal articles, books, book chapters, conference proceedings and other scholarly output indexed in Scopus (Elsevier)
  • Citation counts of scholarly material generated for output in Scopus
  • The Pure team can add additional output that is not automatically found in the system including research, clinical and education interests as well as awards
  • Highlights research interests based on publications and generates a collaborator network
  • Excellent tool for learning about Penn State faculty research at the individual, department, or college level
  • Useful for finding mentors, collaborators, or grant reviewers
  • Open on the web
  • Only research output found in Scopus can generate citation counts
  • All systems require users to view profiles to ensure accuracy and this is no exception
  • Profile will be removed upon departing Penn State
  • Limited to Penn State faculty
